Insomnia is a common problem for many people and without adequate sleep, it can be really difficult to function.  We need sleep just as much as we oxygen, food and water and it is a vital indicator of our overall health and well-being.

A large part of my practice includes individuals who don’t sleep well at night and are seeking natural remedies for their sleeplessness . It may be their main reason for attending or it becomes apparent that difficulty sleeping is one of many symptoms experienced.

In Homeopathy we aim to treat the underlying cause of the problem so that normal sleep patterns can be restored. To do this we take a full case history and look at each person’s situation individually to understand the cause and nature of the sleep problems.

As there are many possible reasons for insomnia, finding and treating the cause of the sleep problem is the most effective way of improving sleep. For some, the cause might be clear while for others there may be many several causes or no known obvious reason.

There is no such thing as a “sleeping pill” in homeopathy. As we treat a person in homeopathy, we look at the sleep disturbance as part of the overall health picture.  After a detailed case history, homeopathic remedies are prescribed unique to each person’s needs.

For some addressing the underlying problem alone will be enough to restore normal sleep patterns. For others where insomnia is just one of many problems, a multi-faceted approach may be required.
