Teachers are pulled in all directions…..
“In the classroom,
you are a drill sergeant, a rabbi, a shoulder to cry on, a disciplinarian, a singer, a low-level scholar, a clerk, a referee, a clown, a counsellor, a dress-code enforcer, a conductor, an apologist, a philosopher, a collaborator, a tap dancer, a politician, a therapist, a fool, a traffic cop, a priest, a mother-father-brother-sister-uncle-aunt, a bookkeeper, a critic, a psychologist, and the last straw.”
Frank McCourt, Pulitzer Prize-winner
More than just a teacher
Teachers are incredible and I have a huge respect for the amazing work they do. In fact a large part of my practice is working with teachers who feel overwhelmed with the pressure of their job and they recognise that it is having an impact on their health so they want to find a better way to cope with stress and achieve a work/life balance.
Their work load is huge and in one day they play many roles, in addition to their actual job as teacher. Yet in spite of this they remain passionate, dedicated and committed to their work.
As Clair, a teacher from Dublin explains:
” The Hollywood image of the teacher surrounded by an army of angel students, really does not in any way reflect the reality of the job. Taking care of yourself is the key to having any longevity in the job and Homeopathy really enhances that”.
But who’s looking after you?
You might well say, teaching will always be stressful so what can I do?
Stress is healthy in moderation, it motivates and protects you. But too much stress can be detrimental to your health and the negative impact eventually expresses itself in your body. It weakens your immune system, plays havoc with your hormones and it can take its toll on your emotional well-being.
Some of the reasons, teachers decided to come and see me include:
- Feeling tired, exhausted, overwhelmed and burnt out
- Feeling anxious, depressed or angry
- Feeling challenged with difficult relationship at work or at home
- Never feeling on top of things and worrying about it constantly
- Struggling with hormone imbalance problems such as acne, menstrual disorders, infertility, PCOS, endometriosis or weight gain
- Sore Throats/laryngitis from overuse of the voice
- Urinary Tract Infections
- IBS/Digestive problems/Bloating
- Hayfever/Allergies
- Difficulties sleeping especially on a Sunday night
The Conventional Approach
Before trying Homeopathy, some of the teachers would have opted for conventional treatment or antibiotics to alleviate painful symptoms or recurring problems. Emotional stress might have been dealt with by taking sleeping tablets, antidepressants, or similar. However they recognise that these don’t tackle the underlying problem and often only provide a temporary solution.
Breaking the cycle – there is a way to stress less
Fortunately there is a way to break the cycle and manage your stress better.
In Homeopathy we take a holistic approach
to your health and we treat the person, not the disease. Each person receives an individualised treatment plan
recognising that stress factors and coping mechanisms differ for everyone.
During the consultation we discuss your health concerns and the healing is facilitated by using homeopathic remedies that are safe, gentle, yet very powerful in stimulating a healing action.
By treating the underlying issues, not only are you able to help resolve what bothers you most, you can also improve your health on many levels at the same time.
This includes:
- Reducing your stress and anxiety levels
- Increasing your energy and motivation
- Improving your moods so you feel more positive and at ease
- Balancing your hormones
- Boosting your immune system and supporting weaker organs, preventing recurring illnesses
- Helping you creating healthy boundaries which in turn will improve your personal and work relationships
- Helping you to switching off when needed
Clair’s story
“My fourteen years between mainstream and SEN teaching, would never have been possible without the support of Eileen and Homeopathy.
A mental break is so much needed at the end of each day. It can be mentally as well as physically draining and trying to detach and relax after work can be very challenging.
Homeopathy once again has helped me to detach in the evening
and has given me my life back in many ways especially after intense meetings and also during the dreaded WSE!
My sleep can be affected on many occasions, especially before those difficult meetings and once again. Homeopathy has supported me here and helped me get a restful night sleep
.
In a job where no matter how nice you class are or how supported your staff are, you are under pressure to please all, all the time and without Eileen and Homeopathy I honestly feel I would have lost the sense of who I am as a person as well as a teacher.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Homeopathy with Eileen as both a remedy and a self care tool for working in such a demanding and of course rewarding job.
