Homeopathy speeds up recovery of Jet Lag

10/06/2014Eileen Scullion

Jet Lag can put a serious dampener on any holiday or trip as you struggle to adjust to your new timezone.  The good news for anyone travelling long haul is that Homeopathy can help speed up the recovery of Jet lag.

What is Jet Lag?

Jet lag occurs when the biological clock is unable to adapt rapidly enough to the new time of the destination. This results in disturbance of sleep pattern, excessive fatigue, difficulty in concentration and disturbances in the appetite and bowel movement patterns. Left untreated it can take some time for natural recovery however with homeopathy the process can be accelerated.

Homeopathic Remedies for Jet Lag

Below are a few homeopathic remedies that are often useful for Jet Lag with details on symptoms that would be apparent.

Arnica:
Jet lag can be likened to a trauma to the body as it disturbs the body’s natural rhythms and cycles. You feel weak, sore and bruised with the tiredness.

Cocculus Indicus:
Excessive fatigue yet feels too tired to sleep. Feeling of weakness, nausea, dizziness and fainting. Unusally the person feels worse in the fresh air and worse for eating and drinking. The person must lie down to prevent vomiting.

Gelsenium:
Jet lag with a sense of paralysis.

Practical measures you can take include

– Drinking plenty of water during the flight (the dry air in airplanes causes dehydration).

– Exercise as much as you can -walk up and down the aisles and do stretching and foot rolling whilst in your seat. Most in-flight magazines have suggested exercises for the seated position.

– Use sleep aids such as blindfolds, earplugs, pillows and blankets to try and support quality sleep.

– If you travel often and struggle to cope with Jet Lag, then you might like to consider obtaining a Homeopathic travel kit made up specific to your needs.
