Homeopathy for Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)

Is the lead up to your period like an emotional roller-coaster ?
Does the pain put you out of action for days ?
Do you loved ones make plans to avoid you and have to walk on eggshells around you?
Or is the disruption putting a serious strain on your work and social relationships ?
If so, this monthly ordeal of feeling out of control can be addressed on many layers using natural homeopathic remedies.
How does PMS affect women?
I see many women in my practice who suffer from premenstrual syndrome to varying degrees and this is how they describe their experience.
“I’m like an antichrist.”
“Everyone and everything annoys me.”
“I cry at the drop of a hat one minute and the next I am throwing something at my partner.”
“I am so cranky and irritable. I just want to be on my own.”
“I’m overly sensitive to what people say to me.”
“I become so aggressive it frightens me.”
“I become so bloated my clothes don’t fit, I look like I am pregnant.”
“The headaches start exactly one week out and stop when my period arrives. “
“I feel so guilty afterwards, the way I treat my children and my husband.”
“I can’t concentrate, I’m forgetful, and I’m clumsy always bumping into things.”
“I become nauseous and vomit with the pain and just want to curl up in a ball on a cold floor.”
“I can’t bear the pain, it’s like being in labour.”
“I feel depressed and the only thing that gives me comfort is binge eating chocolate and sweets.”
What is Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)?
Premenstrual syndrome (also sometimes referred to as Pre-menstrual Tension, PMT) is a term used to describe a combination of physical and emotional symptoms that occurs about one week before menstruation. In more severe cases symptoms can arise at the onset of ovulation. The symptoms tend to disappear or begin to improve when the menstrual bleed starts or shortly thereafter.
The exact cause is unknown but is thought to be related to interactions between sex hormones and brain chemicals (neurotransmitters).

Research Findings on Homeopathy and PMS
Study 1 : 20 women suffering from PMS were enrolled in this randomised, controlled, double-blind trial to receive one of 5 symptomatically selected homeopathic remedies, or placebo. Using daily menstrual distress scores before and at the end of the trial, improvement greater than 30% was experienced by 90% of those using the homeopathic medicine and 37.5% of those using the placebo.
